Jakarta, Nov. 22 -- Indonesia has set an 85-gold target at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, with 996 athletes confirmed to compete, Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir announced on November 21.

He said the goal aligns with Indonesia's previous target of finishing third.

Thohir said medal projections from all sports show potential for more than 120 golds, but an internal review concluded that a realistic estimate is closer to 80.

His ministry is also reassessing funding needs, with the latest proposed budget reaching 66 billion IDR (3.8 million USD) to accommodate the athlete quota requested by national sports federations.
