Hanoi, Nov. 24 -- Surgeons at the 108 Military Central Hospital successfully carried out a multi-organ transplant using organs from a brain-dead donor on November 22, marking two consecutive weeks in November during which the hospital has helped save 29 patients. In this case, the hospital retrieved the heart, two kidneys (one of which was transplanted into a serviceman), and the liver - which was split for transplant into two patients. The right lobe was transplanted into a male soldier at the hospital, while the left lobe was allocated to Vinmec Hospital for transplant into a one-year-old child.
