Ninh Binh, Dec. 22 -- The first Ninh Binh GM/IM/FM Chess Tournament 2025 opened on December 21 in the northern province of Ninh Binh.

Jointly organised by the provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the Sports Authority of Vietnam and the Vietnam Chess Federation, the tournament has attracted more than 100 players from India, the Republic of Korea, the US, Myanmar, Russia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and host nation Vietnam.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, Permanent Deputy Director of the Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports, said the tournament provides an opportunity for national teams to assess training outcomes and athlete development.
