Kuala Lumpur, May 6 -- Starting May 6, Malaysia's Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) is the sole authority issuing non-preferential certificates of origin (NPCO) for goods exported to the US.
The move aims to prevent potential transshipment practices by certain enterprises seeking to reroute goods through Malaysia to third countries.
With the new directive in force, business councils, chambers, and associations, previously authorised under MITI guidelines, are no longer permitted to issue NPCOs for shipments to the US.
