Kuala Lumpur, Feb. 2 -- Malaysia has strengthened health surveillance and border controls to prevent the entry of the Nipah virus, amid concerns about virus infections from India.

Bernama, the Malaysian national news agency, has cited a statement from the Ministry of Health (MoH), reporting that the Southeast Asian nation is tightening health surveillance and screening at all international border entry points.

The ministry said that it would enhance continuous surveillance, including thorough monitoring in the field and strengthening the national laboratory's capacity to ensure early detection.
