Hanoi, Oct. 10 -- A 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Oriental province on the southern island of Mindanao at 9:42 am on October 10, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre earlier reported the quake at a magnitude of 7.4.

Phivolcs said the quake occurred at a depth of 10 km beneath the seabed, and its epicentre was about 62km southeast of Manay town in Davao Oriental province, posing a risk of dangerous tsunami waves between 1 and 3 metres high.
