Hanoi, Jan. 28 -- Cambodia has prohibited the sale and distribution of three types of Babybio Optima 1 infant milk powder over concerns that they may be contaminated with the toxin cereulide.

The Directorate-General of Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF) said in a statement on January 27 that the three banned French products are Babybio Optima 1 800g infant formula with Lot No. 894408, Babybio Optima 1 800g infant formula with Lot No. 900035, and Babybio Optima 1 400g infant formula with Lot No. 900932.

According to the CCF, cereulide is a bacterial toxin that can cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, and is particularly dangerous for infants.
