Kuala Lumpur, Sept. 11 -- Malaysia has launched its first biotechnology ethics guidelines, a landmark move seen as setting a benchmark for responsible innovation across the Southeast Asian region.
The guidelines, unveiled at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Bioethics Seminar 2025 on September 9, outline 15 core ethical principles, covering respect for autonomy, human dignity and rights, social responsibility, bio-sovereignty, sustainability, and the protection of future generations, Bernama reported.
