Hanoi, March 30 -- Another earthquake measuring 5.1 struck the area near Mandalay, the second-largest city in Myanmar with a population of about 1.5 million, on March 30 afternoon, just two days after the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake.

Initial reports indicate that the fresh quake was located 27 km north of Mandalay. There is currently no information about the damage caused by it. However, according to some witnesses, many people screamed in panic and ran out into the streets.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar State Administration Council said that the death toll from the previous earthquake has risen to about 1,700, with 3,400 people injured and 300 still missing.
