Hanoi, Jan. 21 -- Vietnam claimed another gold medal at the 13th ASEAN Para Games on January 21, with swimmer Vi Thi Hang delivering an impressive performance and breaking the Games record in the women's 50m backstroke (S6-S7).

Hang finished in 45.63 seconds, smashing the previous record of 49.13 seconds.

This was her second gold at the Games, following her earlier win in the women's 100m freestyle (S7) with a time of 1 minute 20.68 seconds.

Swimming proved to be a major strength for Vietnam on the opening day, as the team secured seven gold medals, from Vo Huynh Anh Khoa, Nguyen Van Hanh, Trinh Thi Bich Nhu, Vi Thi Hang, Le Thi Dung, and Ha Van Hiep.
