, Oct. 20 -- SRINAGAR: Amid widening fissures between the ruling alliance partners in Jammu & Kashmir, the Congress has turned down the National Conference's offer to contest the Nagrota seat, stating that it has decided to leave the seat to its ally, the National Conference, in order to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party.
In a late-night statement issued to KNO, the party said it has decided against contesting the seat, keeping in view the larger interests and the goal of defeating the BJP.
