Tashkent, Oct. 6 -- Uzbekistan has increased the export of medicines almost four times in eight months, from $3mn last year to $11.5mn this year, the State Statistics Committee reported on Tuesday.

The Republic sold pharmaceutical products to 11 countries. The largest importers were Kyrgyzstan ($3.4mn), Kazakhstan ($2.1mn), Afghanistan ($1.5mn), Turkmenistan ($1.2mn), Tajikistan ($1.1mn) and Turkey (almost $1mn).

In the meantime, Uzbekistan has reduced the import of medicines from other countries by 1.2%, from $572mn last year to $565.2mn this year.

The country purchased products from 55 countries. The largest share of medicines was imported from India ($102.9mn), Russia ($59.9mn), Ukraine ($46.1mn), Latvia ($46mn) and China ($34.1mn)....
