Tashkent, Sept. 24 -- Fergana has become a member of the UNESCO's Global Network of Learning Cities, from Uzbekistan. Additionally, 54 new members from 26 countries have joined the international policy-oriented network that provides inspiration, know-how and best practice.

The UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), as a coordinator of the network, admitted the new members following their nomination by the National Commissions. A strong commitment to lifelong learning by the mayor and city administration is a key prerequisite for becoming a learning city.
