Tashkent, Feb. 13 -- The mayor of the capital city Tashkent, Jahongir Artykhodjayev met with the residents of the alley near the restaurant "Blue Domes" on Saturday. It was organized amid the criticism of residents, who were angry with the construction of the Istiqlol independence complex on the territory of the alley.

Earlier, the capital's administration announced a competition for the development of the Istiqlol complex project dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. The complex is to be located between the streets Sharof Rashidov, Islam Karimov and Afrosiab, opposite the Central Department store (TSUM).

The mayor said that he would resign from his post if at least one tree was cut down in the park.
