Tashkent, Sept. 23 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed the importance of the United Nations (UN) and abiding by the UN Charter in a pre-recorded video address to the general debate of the 75th anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly that was held on Tuesday.

Speaking in the video, Putin said that the United Nations is fulfilling its mission and safeguarding the world peace despite the upheaval of geopolitics and complicate world politics.

"In an interrelated, interdependent world, amid the whirlpool of discords in the international affairs, we need to work together drawing on the principles and norms of international law enshrined in the UN Charter," said Putin.
