Tashkent, June 11 -- The Commissioner for Human Rights in Karakalpakstan has helped to solve the problem of convicts who were not paid wages for their work.

The regional representative of the Commissioner of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Karakalpakstan paid a monitoring visit to Colony No. 27 in the Kungrad district. It studied the living conditions, food, and money transfers, as well as working conditions.

It turned out that more than 100 convicts working at one of the brick factories in the Nukus district had not been paid their wages for several months.
