Tashkent, March 23 -- The Kokand airport in the Fergana region has completed its reconstruction. On March 20, it received its first technical flight, operated by Uzbekistan Airways. The airport's runway was extended to 2,000 meters, and the flight line was reconstructed to accommodate several aircraft.

Additionally, a new passenger terminal, spanning 900 square meters and capable of serving 100 people, was constructed. The technical flight from Tashkent to Kokand demonstrated the airport's readiness to handle aircraft and the terminal's capacity to serve passengers. Regular flights are scheduled to commence on April 1. The airport ceased civilian operations in 2001 and was subsequently utilized by the Uzbekistan Armed Forces.
