Tashkent, Jan. 18 -- The khokims of Jizzakh, Surkhandarya, Bukhara, Fergana, SyrDarya, Samarkand, Andijan, Navoi, Kashkadarya and Tashkent city were elected as senators, the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) reported.

This means that all governors now enjoy immunity. The fact is that according to article 2 of the law "On the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan", senators enjoy the right of inviolability.

"A senator cannot be brought to criminal responsibility, detained, imprisoned or subjected to administrative penalties imposed in court, without the consent of the Senate, and in the period between sessions of the Senate-without the consent of the Kengash of the Senate," the document says.
