Tashkent, Nov. 25 -- Afghanistan will receive about $12bn in aid from the international community. Funds will be received in the next few days.

Finland's Minister of international development and foreign trade, Ville Skinnari, said that $3bn was promised to Afghanistan next year. Support is expected to remain at the same level over the next three years.

The UN Secretary-General's special representative for Afghanistan, Deborah Lyons, said the funds "will come for a reason." They will be provided on the terms of rational use. The government in Kabul will also have to provide a report.

In addition, the EU will provide $1.2bn to Afghanistan over the next four years. This assistance may be at risk if violence increases in the region.
