Tashkent, Feb. 14 -- In Bukhara, ACWA Power is constructing two wind power plants with a capacity of 500 MW each. The project, using 6.5 MW turbines from Envision, began in July 2023 in the Peshku and Gijduvan districts. Currently, 73 out of 158 turbines have been installed, totaling 474.5 MW.

The first stage of the power plants, producing 400 MW, is expected to be operational by the end of this year. These plants will provide energy to residents of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Bukhara, and Navoi regions. Once fully operational, the wind farms will generate up to 3.6 billion kWh of electricity annually, saving 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas and reducing atmospheric emissions by 1.5 million tons.
