Tashkent, March 27 -- Every year on March 27, International Theater Day is widely celebrated worldwide with the slogan "Theatre is a means of strengthening unity and peace among peoples". This concept was initially proposed at the IX Congress of the International Theater Institute in 1961, and it was supported by over 100 countries globally. The history of theater dates back to ancient times, over 2500 years before the first formal performance. It originated in Egypt but gained popularity in ancient Greece and Rome. In Western Europe, theater became ingrained in society through comedies by Moler and tragedies by Shakespeare.
