WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 -- Sen. Peter Welch issued the following press release:

U.S. Senators Peter Welch (D-Vt.) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), members of the Senate Finance Committee, will introduce the Student Loan Bond Expansion Act of 2026, bipartisan, bicameral legislation to reduce financial barriers for college students looking for lower interest loans. The legislation would exempt Qualified Student Loan Bonds (QSLB) from the private activity bond volume cap and the alternative minimum tax, broadening access to loans with lower interest rates. U.S. Representative Randy Feenstra (R-IA-04) is leading companion legislation in the House of Representatives.
