Today, U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Banking Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led an effort, alongside eight of their Senate Democratic colleagues, urging Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Acting Director Russell Vought to rescind a proposed rule that would end discrimination protections at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)'s disparate impact test has been used for over 50 years to combat some of the most nefarious forms of discrimination and ensures every American has fair and nondiscriminatory access to consumer and business credit.
