US Patent Issued to ZYMOCHEM on March 25 for "Production of chemicals from renewable sources" (California Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,258,610, issued on March 25, was assigned to ZYMOCHEM INC. (San Leandro, Calif.).

"Production of chemicals from renewable sources" was invented by Harshal Chokhawala (Castro Valley, Calif.), Jonathan Kuchenreuther (Alameda, Calif.), Jorge-Alonso Gutierrez (Alameda, Calif.) and Yi-Shu Tai (Alameda, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Among other things, the present disclosure provides biosynthesis polypeptides, methods, and non-naturally occurring microbial organisms for preparing various compounds such as 1,5-pentanediol, adipic acid, 1,6-hexanediol, 6-hydroxy hexanoic acid, and 2-keto carboxylic acids."
