ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,400,749, issued on Aug. 26, was assigned to ZOLL Medical Corp. (Chelmsford, Mass.).

"Defibrillator charging" was invented by Qing Tan (Somerville, Mass.), Gary A. Freeman (Waltham, Mass.), Frederick J. Geheb (Lenexa, Kan.), Martin E. Bures (Somerville, Mass.) and Annemarie E. Silver (Bedford, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods related to the field of cardiac resuscitation, and in particular to devices for assisting rescuers in performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)."
