US Patent Issued to Zimmer on July 29 for "Systems for guided reaming of complex shapes" (Indiana Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,369,930, issued on July 29, was assigned to Zimmer Inc. (Warsaw, Ind.).

"Systems for guided reaming of complex shapes" was invented by Tim Yoko (Granger, Ind.), Jeffery A. VanDiepenbos (New Paris, Ind.) and Joseph Arthur Azbell (Roanoke, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods for reaming an intramedullary canal of a long bone comprise a trial stem configured to extend into the long bone along an insertion axis and a guide device comprising an adapter configured to couple to the trial stem and a reaming guidepost extending from the adapter along a guide axis, wherein the guide axis and the insertion axis are non-aligned. ...
