ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,303,564, issued on May 20, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).

"Composite chitosan-tannin-active agent compositions and methods of making and using same" was invented by Jess Reed (Verona, Wis.) and Christian Krueger (Cambridge, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Composite composition comprising chitosan, tannin, and an active agent and methods of making and using same."
