ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,299,806, issued on May 13, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).

"Method and apparatus for evaluating surgical corridors in the skull" was invented by Zaid Aljuboori (Madison, Wis.) and Alan McMillan (Madison, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A surgical planning tool evaluates a volumetric image of the skull to identify landmarks and define surgical corridors that can be compared and visualized for access to the skull for removal of tumors and the like."

The patent was filed on June 28, 2022, under Application No. 17/809,403.
