ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 26 -- United States Patent no. 12,262,462, issued on March 25, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).

"High-energy plasma generator using radio-frequency and neutral beam power" was invented by Cary Brett Forest (Madison, Wis.), Jay Keith Anderson (Madison, Wis.), John Philip Wallace (Madison, Wis.), Robert W. Harvey (Oceanside, Calif.) and Yuri V. Petrov (Cypress, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An apparatus for generating a highly energetic plasma employs a low-energy neutral beam injected into a magnetically contained mirror plasma to produce plasma ions boosted in energy to fusion levels by a coordinated radiofrequency field."
