ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,492,251, issued on Dec. 9, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).

"Human blood-brain barrier targeting antibodies" was invented by Eric V. Shusta (Madison, Wis.), Charles C. Stutz (Waltham, Mass.), Loukas Goulatis (Worcester, Mass.) and Julia Georgieva (Berlin).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention provides antibodies or antigen-binding fragments thereof including single chain variable fragment (scFv) antibodies that specifically bind to and translocate the blood-brain barrier and methods of use."
