ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,496,360, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (Madison, Wis.).

"Gene editing-based method of attenuating the beta-amyloid pathway" was invented by Subhojit Roy (Madison, Wis.) and Jichao Sun (Madison, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are CRISPR/Cas9 constructs designed for the C-terminal truncation of human amyloid precursor protein (APP) as well as methods of making and using such a construct."

The patent was filed on May 17, 2023, under Application No. 18/319,042.
