ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,410,409, issued on Sept. 9, was assigned to Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) (Madison, Wis.).
"Influenza viruses with mutant PB2 gene segment as live attenuated vaccines" was invented by Yoshihiro Kawaoka (Middleton, Wis.), Gabriele Neumann (Madison, Wis.) and Makoto Ozawa (Kagoshima, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention provides a recombinant biologically contained influenza virus that is a PB2 knockout virus, e.g., one that is useful to generate a multivalent vaccine, and methods of making and using that virus."
The patent was filed on June 8, 2022, under Application No. 17/835,830.
