ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,471,648, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to Winthrop Innovations LLC (West Palm Beach, Fla.).

"Patient gown" was invented by Neil Winthrop (West Palm Beach, Fla.), Kimberly Winthrop (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Amy Winthrop (West Palm Beach, Fla.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Medical gown for adults, children and infants having ease of access for medical treatment scenarios when access to portions of a patient's body are necessary without disrupting the patient or causing embarrassment to the patient. The medical gown decreases the possibility of nosocomial infections."
