ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,247,343, issued on March 11, was assigned to Whirlpool Corp. (Benton Harbor, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of operating a household appliance having a treating chamber and a single-use dispenser with a siphon. The method comprising fluidly coupling the siphon to the treating chamber when supplying water to the single-use dispenser, and fluidly coupling the siphon to a bulk treating chemistry reservoir when water is not supplied to the single-use dispenser."
