ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,329,973, issued on June 17, was assigned to West Affum Holdings DAC (Dublin).
"Rhythm sensing during external pacing" was invented by Joseph L. Sullivan (Kirkland, Wash.), Jaeho Kim (Redmond, Wash.) and David P. Finch (Bothell, Wash.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A Wearable Medical System (WMS) includes one or more pacing capabilities. The WMS may detect when the patient's heart rhythm starts to deteriorate, but not necessarily in a way that requires defibrillation. In particular, the WMS may detect bradycardia of one or more types, and then confirm the detection before pacing to treat the detected bradycardia."
