ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,371,822, issued on July 29, was assigned to Welspun India Ltd. (Mumbai, India).

"Hygro textile structures and related processes" was invented by Dipali Goenka (Mumbai, India), Subrata Palit (Mumbai, India), Utpal Haldar (Mumbai, India) and Rajender Sharma (Mumbai, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A woven fabric includes a plurality of warp yarns and a plurality of weft yarns interwoven with the plurality of warp yarns to define the woven fabric. Multiple weft yarns are inserted through the shed during weaving cycle to form higher thread count fabrics."
