ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,497,851, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Weatherford Technology Holdings LLC (Houston).

"Impact jar delay, activation indicator, shock absorber, and relatch assist" was invented by Jason Allen Hradecky (Heath, Texas) and James Patrick Massey (Leadville, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An impact jar apparatus including a dynamic portion connectable to an upper tool string portion, a static portion connectable to a lower tool string portion, and a hydraulic manifold, an activation indicator, a relatch assist, and/or a shock absorber. The hydraulic manifold fluidly communicates with an annulus between the dynamic and static portions...
