ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,338,524, issued on June 24, was assigned to Waymo LLC (Mountain View, Calif.).

"Durable, optically transparent, and superhydrophobic coating" was invented by John T. Simpson (Sahuarita, Ariz.) and Bryce Remesch (San Jose, Calif.).
