ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,366,110, issued on July 22, was assigned to WaterFilled Barrier Systems International Inc. (Paige, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A safety gate includes a first column, disposed on a first side of an elevator shaft, a second column, disposed on a second side of the elevator shaft, a first gate panel, and a second gate panel. The first gate panel is coupled to the first column via a first locking hinge. The second gate panel is coupled to the second column via a second locking hinge."
