ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,297,317, issued on May 13, was assigned to Washington State University (Pullman, Wash.).

"Vegetable oil-derived epoxy compositions having improved performance" was invented by Jinwen Zhang (Pullman, Wash.) and Tuan Liu (Pullman, Wash.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Embodiments of this invention are directed to bio-based epoxy compositions. and method of their preparation and use. Other embodiments are directed to cured bio-based epoxies, and manufactured articles having bio-based epoxy coatings, adhesives, or composites."

The patent was filed on March 1, 2024, under Application No. 18/593,230.
