ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,433,765, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to WARSAW ORTHOPEDIC Inc. (Warsaw, Ind.).

"Expandable spinal implant system and method" was invented by Adriaan J. Kuyler (Memphis, Tenn.), Anthony J. Melkent (Germantown, Tenn.) and Keith E. Miller (Germantown, Tenn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An expandable spinal implant is provided having a frame with a distal wall for retaining an expansion plug such that bone growth promoting material may be introduced to a proximal portion of the implant after expansion. Various implants, systems and methods are disclosed."

The patent was filed on June 10, 2024, under Application No. 18/738,882.
