ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,329,479, issued on June 17, was assigned to Warsaw Orthopedic Inc. (Warsaw, Ind.).
"Systems and methods for setting an implant" was invented by Shane Lars Riding (Bartlett, Tenn.), Julien J. Prevost (Memphis, Tenn.), Jonathan M. Dewey (Memphis, Tenn.) and Gregory Thomas Poulter (Zionsville, Ind.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods for setting an implant are provided. A robotic arm may automatically orient a screw head to a predetermined orientation relative to a pedicle screw. The screw head may be pivotably coupled to the pedicle screw. The robotic arm may lock the screw head in the predetermined position."
