ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 12 -- United States Patent no. PP36,675, issued on May 13, was assigned to Walters Gardens Inc. (Zeeland, Mich.).

"Allium plant named 'Bobblehead'" was invented by Hans A Hansen (Zeeland, Mich.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Allium ornamental onion plant named 'Bobblehead' has a large upright habit, with glaucous, stiff, broad, strap-like, upright, flattened, green foliage with longitudinal twisting. The numerous, tightly-clustered, pale lavender flowers forming a large, globose, upright umbel. The new plant is useful for containers, landscaping and cut flowers."
