ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,479,782, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to W.R. Grace & Co. Conn. (Columbia, Md.).

"Catalysts, preparation method thereof, and selective hydrogenation processes" was invented by Stephen Raymond Schmidt (Silver Spring, Md.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to a process for making 1,4 butanediol. The process may include reacting a solution comprising 1,4-butynediol with hydrogen in a presence of a catalyst. The catalyst may include cerium."

The patent was filed on Oct. 11, 2022, under Application No. 17/963,698.
