ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,251,403, issued on March 18, was assigned to VOR BIOPHARMA INC. (Cambridge, Mass.).

"Genetically engineered hematopoietic stem cells and uses thereof" was invented by Joseph Bolen (Boston), Aleksandar Filip Radovic-Moreno (Evanston, Ill.) and John Lydeard (Sharon, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Genetically engineered hematopoietic cells such as hematopoietic stem cells having one or more genetically edited genes of lineage-specific cell-surface proteins and therapeutic uses thereof, either alone or in combination with immune therapy that targets the lineage-specific cell-surface proteins."
