ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,253,195, issued on March 18, was assigned to VICTAULIC COMPANY (Easton, Pa.).

"Coupling having visual installation indicators" was invented by Matthew A. Bowman (Palmer, Pa.), Thomas Nunnally (Telford, Pa.) and Michael S Fleck (Easton, Pa.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A pipe coupling has two segments with action surfaces in facing relationship. Attachment elements on each segment, in the form of lugs, accommodate adjustable fasteners which draw the segments together when tightened. Support surfaces on the lugs engage one another to visually indicate that a proper installation of the coupling has been achieved."
