ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,474,524, issued on Nov. 18, was assigned to VIAVI Solutions Inc. (Chandler, Ariz.).
"Photonic transmission structure" was invented by William D. Houck (Santa Rosa, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some implementations, a photonic transmission structure includes a first cladding structure; a first active structure disposed over the first cladding structure; and a second cladding structure disposed over the first active structure. The first active structure includes a non-alkali, oxide solution that includes a cation that is niobium."
