ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,529,823, issued on Jan. 20, was assigned to VIAVI Solutions Inc. (Chandler, Ariz.).
"Optical element" was invented by Christophe Bourreau (Paris) and Tasso Sales (Pittsford, N.Y.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some implementations, an optical element comprises a glass substrate, a dark mirror coating disposed on a first surface of the glass substrate, and a lens disposed on a second surface of the glass substrate. An aperture is formed in the dark mirror coating, and the aperture is aligned with the lens. The optical element is a monolithic optical element."
