ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,388,840, issued on Aug. 12, was assigned to VeriSign Inc. (Reston, Va.).
"Strengthening integrity assurances for DNS data" was invented by Burton S. Kaliski Jr. (McLean, Va.) and Eric Osterweil (Fairfax, Va.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "One or more DNS services are provided that are configured to not only tolerate some commonly observed DNSSEC misconfigurations (while still providing DNSSEC's security guarantees), but also provide a more intelligent DNS resolution process informed by DNSSEC."
