US Patent Issued to Varian Medical Systems on Dec. 2 for "Selective internal radiation therapy mapping via microbeads with different contrast materials" (German Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 2 -- United States Patent no. 12,484,865, issued on Dec. 2, was assigned to Varian Medical Systems Inc. (Palo Alto, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method includes determining a shunt fraction of microbeads by comparing a known ratio of a mixture of smaller microbeads loaded with a first contrast agent to larger microbeads loaded with a second contrast agent changes to a diffused ratio of the smaller microbeads to the larger microbeads after the mixture has been administered to a treatment site."
